I mentioned in an earlier post that I’ve changed up my Christmas decor this year. One of the first things I changed was our Christmas tree skirt. We’ve had it for years, and like I said, I was feeling something different. 🙂 I decided that I wanted a tree collar! But have you looked at the price tag on some of the Christmas tree collars out there?? There are some gorgeous ones at Pier One and Crate and Barrel, but my budget couldn’t handle that price tag this year!

How to make a Christmas tree collar

I decided that I wanted a galvanized Christmas tree collar, to really bring in the farmhouse vibe. Did you know that Amazon has galvanized steel tubs for cheap? I got the one that is 17 gallons, which is the perfect size for a Christmas tree! You can grab yours here.

Now all you need to do is cut a hole out for your tree to slide into.

First, we used our drill to poke a hole in the center. Then we used a jigsaw to make the hole bigger. You could cut the entire bottom of the bucket off if you wanted to. Be careful though! The edges are super sharp!

And that’s it! Now you’re ready to put in your tree! I placed Christmas tree stand on the ground first, then put the bucket over that. Next year, I think I’ll try the bucket right side up with the tree sitting in it!
