How to DIY this Simple Christmas Decoration
Step 1: Leather
Now, this is where having a woodshop teacher for a husband comes in handy! He took my piece of leather to school and used his laser engraver to do the words.
Don’t have access to a laser engraver? No problem!
This can easily be done on a Cricket! The only difference is that the letters would be fully cut out of the leather. (Also, make sure you research what kind of weight and thickness, etc your Cricket can cut!)
Also, I used Montserrat font, extra bold for this project.
Step 2: Paint
While Sam was taking care of the leather, I painted my board white. I wanted the frame to stay the natural wood, so I taped around the edges.
This is the white paint I used….it was what we had in the shed!!
Step 3: Decorative Tacks
When the paint was fully dry, I grabbed the tacks and leather. Once my leather was placed where I wanted it, we pressed them in.
The tacks I grabbed were a bit longer than the thickness of my wood, and they stuck out in the back a little bit. So, if that bothers you, make sure to be better than me and do some measuring!
Step 4: Be amazed at your talent
But really, you’re going to love how this Christmas craft turns out!
