Hey Nicole – great find on the coming design trends for the year. Well for the remainder of the year seeing as how we’re almost halfway through 2018. Scary!

Interesting to see wall decals making a comeback – almost like we’re heading back towards faux and tromp d’oleil becoming popular again.

According to your reply of the previous comment, I agree with you about the home decoration trend. I really wonder, how those are constantly changing :). BTW, thanks for putting all those rising trends together.

Thanks for such great article. My mom wants to redecorate her living room so that it can look a little bit nicer and more modern. It would probably be good if she just changed up some of the details and bought a few accessories that could elevate the style of the room.

    Hey Nicole,

It’s crazy how some of these trends hold onto 2019 too. Pastels is a new addition this year in interior design. I am seeing a lot of designers are opting for pastels into their mood boards. You should make a 2019 edition of the post.

    Take care!

Great post – Interesting how so many of these 2018 trends are still alive and well in 2020! I love the modern aesthetic, but sometimes mid-century modern can feel a bit stale. I’m definitely drawn to wash lines, and also like to make sure there’s enough layers, texture, and colour to make it feel inviting and unique. Almost every trend can work if done the proper way – there’s definitely a balance.

A patterned rug with a texture you want to touch is a great way to add comfort and warmth to a room. Not to mention rugs on bare floors help keep in heat, meaning they are literally warming your space.
