Does anybody else hate cleaning out their fridge as much as I do?? It’s probably one of my least favorite things to do-besides cleaning the bathtub, which I hate more π Anyways, over the years I’ve tried many different things to have an organized fridge, and I’ll be honest: none of them worked. Oh sure, they’d work for a few days, but then things happen, stuff gets shoved around and pretty soon, it’s jungle in there and I can’t find anything!
The worst thing is thinking that I’m out of something, like sour cream-so then I’ll buy some at the store, and then find an unopened one in the back of my fridge a couple days later! Having an organized fridge saves time, money and my sanity!!
The One Thing Thing That Kept Me From Having an Organized Fridge….
A while ago, I found these awesome baskets at Walmart, (I know, I have a problem!) for only $2!! (Unfortunately, they are an in store purchase only…) I decided to get 4 of them in gold and use them in my fridge to try to help with the organization. I’ve used baskets before, but it only did so much.
As I was looking over my very small fridge, I realized the biggest issue I have is with all the jars and containers that get shoved to the back and then get lost. The only way to find them is to take everything out, which is a pain!
So, I decided to put those jars and containers into baskets as well.
I had never done that in the past…and I’m not sure why! But, let me tell you, it is the trick to having an organized fridge!! Doesn’t it look better?? I’ve been amazed at the long term results! No more searching for lost jars or containers!
My fridge is pretty small, so I only had room for 4 baskets. Each basket has a category: one for jars and sauces that won’t fit in the door trays; one for leftovers; one for bread (because we eat 3 different kinds! don’t ask π ); and one for tubs of sour cream, cottage cheese, etc. I was already using baskets for my string cheese and other loose stuff, so I kept those as well π
I’ve got to tell you, writing my grocery list lately has been so much faster, now that I’m not spending time searching around my fridge for things–I just quickly pull out the basket and see if it’s in there! I love it!
Have you been trying to get an organized fridge? Try this trick and see if it works for you like it did for me!

I have the baskets – but had not thought of them for the fridge. I recently grabbed the silicone bins from Aldi on special buy, but I’m not loving that I can’t see everything. I really like this, though π

Thanks Katie!! I know, I love being able to see what’s inside! I hope you love it!

Iβve done this for a while now. My husband sees the value of it as well, no more asking me where items are. I have a meat drawer, cheese tray, jams and jellies tray. I keep sauces together in a door pocket, dressings the same way, condiments in the same area, pickles together, etc.
I do the same in our upright freezer, organize by like items and you always know where to look.
